On February 27, 2021 Rene Mark Cuarto fought Pedro Taduran in a strawweight world-title fight for Taduran's IBF title. Cuarto was 24 years old and with a record of 19-2-2 (11), and Taduran was 24 years old and with a record of 14-2-1 (11). Cuarto won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and is crowned the new strawweight world champion.
