On July 19, 2025 Phumelele Cafu met Jesse Rodriguez in a super-flyweight (WBO) world-title defense fight. Cafu was 20 years old and with a record of 11-1-3 (8), and Rodriguez was 25 years old and with a record of 21-0 (14). Cafu lost the fight via 10th-round TKO and lost the title.
