On March 30, 2025 Melvin Jerusalem met Yudai Shigeoka in a strawweight (WBC) world-title defense fight. Jerusalem was 31 years old and with a record of 24-3 (12), and Shigeoka was 27 years old and with a record of 9-1 (5). Jerusalem won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and successfully defended his title.
On July 16, 2021 Melvin Jerusalem faced off against Toto Landero in a strawweight bout at age 27. He was coming in with a record of 17-2 (10), and Landero was 25 years old and with a record of 11-5-2 (2). Jerusalem won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision.
On January 6, 2023 Melvin Jerusalem fought Masataka Taniguchi in a strawweight world-title fight for Taniguchi's WBO title. Jerusalem was 28 years old and with a record of 20-2 (12), and Taniguchi was 28 years old and with a record of 16-3 (11). Jerusalem stopped Masataka Taniguchi via 2nd-round TKO and is crowned the new strawweight world champion.
