On April 4, 1990 Juan Nazario fought Edwin Rosario in a lightweight world-title fight for Rosario's WBA title. Nazario was 26 years old and with a record of 22-2 (16), and Rosario was 27 years old and with a record of 39-3 (35). Nazario stopped Edwin Rosario via 8th-round retirement and is crowned the new lightweight world champion.
