Barkley won the fight via 12-round split decision and is crowned the new light-heavyweight world champion.
On June 6, 1988 Iran Barkley fought Thomas Hearns in a middleweight world-title fight for Hearns' WBC title. Barkley was 28 years old and with a record of 25-4 (16), and Hearns was 29 years old and with a record of 45-2 (38). Barkley stopped Thomas Hearns via 3rd-round TKO and is crowned the new middleweight world champion.
