Edwin Valero (27-0, 27) was born in Bolero Alto, MĂ©rida, Venezuela on December 3, 1981. At the age of 20 years on July 9, 2002, he made his professional boxing debut against Eduardo Hernandez, winning the fight via 1st-round TKO.
On his 20th career fight at 24 years old, Valero became a super-featherweight world champion on August 5, 2006 after defeating Vicente Mosquera via 10th-round TKO to win the WBA title.
He then went on to become world champion at the lightweight weight class as well, winning the WBC title against Antonio PitalĂșa via 2nd-round TKO on April 4, 2009.
Valero's last fight was a lightweight (WBC) world-title defense against Antonio DeMarco on February 6, 2010. He stopped DeMarco via retirement in the 9th round, successfully defending the title. He was on an undefeated 27-fight winning streak by his last fight.
