Corrales stopped Acelino Freitas via 10th-round TKO and is crowned the new lightweight world champion.
On October 23, 1999 Diego Corrales fought Robert Garcia in a super-featherweight world-title fight for Garcia's IBF title. Corrales was 22 years old and with a record of 29-0 (24), and Garcia was 24 years old and with a record of 32-0 (24). Corrales stopped Robert Garcia via 7th-round TKO and is crowned the new super-featherweight world champion.
