On December 31, 2023 Daigo Higa fought Nawaphon Kaikanha in a bantamweight world-title fight for Kaikanha's WBO title. Higa was 28 years old and with a record of 21-2-1 (19), and Kaikanha was 32 years old and with a record of 58-3-1 (48). Higa stopped Nawaphon Kaikanha via 4th-round KO and is crowned the new bantamweight world champion.
