      Davey S. Moore (Springfield Rifle) was an American professional boxer. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky, U.S. on November 1, 1933. He was a featherweight world champion. Moore died on March 25, 1963 at the age of 29 years. His professional boxing career spanned more than 9 years — from 1953 to 1963.

      Moore made his professional boxing debut against Willie Reece at the age of 19 on May 11, 1953, defeating Reece via 6 round unanimous decision. He went on to win 5 more consecutive fights after the debut, which included 3 wins via stoppage.

      He had his first world title fight at the age of 25 on March 18, 1959 after 42 professional fights, against Hogan Bassey for the featherweight NBA, NYSAC, and The Ring titles. He defeated Bassey via 13th round RTD to become the featherweight champion of the world.
