On October 14, 2023 Vincenzo Gualtieri, the IBF middleweight champion, met Janibek Alimkhanuly, the WBO middleweight champion, in a title unification fight. Gualtieri was 30 years old with a record of 21-0-1, and Alimkhanuly was 30 with a record of 14-0. Gualtieri was on an undefeated 6-fight winning streak and Alimkhanuly was on an undefeated 14-fight winning streak. Alimkhanuly stopped Gualtieri via TKO in the 6th round. Lost the title in unification.
