Martínez was 32 years old and with a record of 29-2-2 (17), and Salido was 34 years old and with a record of 43-12-2 (30). Martínez won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and is crowned the new super-featherweight world champion.
On September 15, 2012 Román Martínez fought Miguel Beltrán Jr. in a super-featherweight world-title fight for the WBO title. Martínez was 29 years old and with a record of 26-1-1 (16), and Beltrán Jr. was 23 years old and with a record of 27-1 (17). Martínez won the fight via 12-round split decision and is crowned the new super-featherweight world champion.
