On December 13, 1997 Otis Grant fought Ryan Rhodes in a middleweight world-title fight for Rhodes' WBO title. Grant was 29 years old and with a record of 30-1-1 (17), and Rhodes was 21 years old and with a record of 16-0 (13). Grant won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and is crowned the new middleweight world champion.
On November 22, 2003 Otis Grant faced off against Dingaan Thobela at age 35. He was coming in with a record of 32-2-1 (17), and Thobela was 37 years old and with a record of 20-10-1 (13). Grant won the fight via 8-round unanimous decision.
