Cordina was 32 years old with a record of 17-0, and Cacace was 35 with a record of 21-1. Cordina was on an undefeated 17-fight winning streak and Cacace was on a 6-fight winning streak. Cacace stopped Cordina via TKO in the 8th round. Lost the title in unification.
