On September 22, 1927 Gene Tunney defended his NBA, NYSAC, and The Ring heavyweight titles against Jack Dempsey. It was their second meeting. Tunney was 30 years old with a record of 77-1-4, and Dempsey was 32 with a record of 58-5-9. Tunney was on a 11-fight winning streak and Dempsey was coming off a win. Tunney won via unanimous decision. Defended the titles.
