Austin Trout was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico, U.S. on September 18, 1985. He made his professional debut at the age of 19 years on September 16, 2005 against Justo Almazan. Trout defeated Almazan via 3rd round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Trout became a world champion at the age of 25 after 21 professional fights. He challenged Rigoberto Álvarez for the vacant WBA (Regular) super-welterweight title and defeated Álvarez via 12-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.
