On May 14, 2022 Brian Castaño, the WBO champion, met Jermell Charlo, the WBA (Super), WBC, IBF and The Ring champion, in a super-welterweight world-title unification fight. Castaño was 32 years old and with a record of 17-1-2 (12), and Charlo was 31 years old and with a record of 34-1-1 (18). Castaño lost the fight via 10th-round KO and lost his title.
