On May 6, 2024 Luis Nery fought Naoya Inoue in a super-bantamweight world-title fight for Inoue's WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, WBO and The Ring titles. Nery was 29 years old and with a record of 35-2 (27), and Inoue was 31 years old and with a record of 26-0 (23). Nery lost the fight via 6th-round KO.
On May 15, 2021 Luis Nery, the WBC champion, met Brandon Figueroa, the WBA (Regular) champion, in a super-bantamweight world-title unification fight. Nery was 26 years old and with a record of 31-1 (24), and Figueroa was 24 years old and with a record of 21-0-1 (16). Nery lost the fight via 7th-round KO and lost his title.
