      Vassiliy Jirov (The Tiger) is a 50-year old retired Kazakhstani professional boxer. He was born in Balkhash, Kazakh SSR, Soviet Union on April 4, 1974. He is a former cruiserweight world champion. His professional boxing career spanned more than 12 years — from 1997 to 2009.

      Jirov made his professional boxing debut against Vincent Brown at the age of 22 on January 18, 1997, defeating Brown via 2nd round TKO. He went on to win 30 more consecutive fights after the debut, which included 26 wins via stoppage.

      He had his first world title fight at the age of 25 on June 5, 1999 after 20 professional fights, against Arthur Williams for the cruiserweight IBF title. He defeated Williams via 7th round TKO to become the cruiserweight champion of the world.
