Joe Calzaghe (The Pride of Wales) is a 51-year old retired Welsh professional boxer. He was born in Hammersmith, London, England on March 23, 1972. He is a former two-weight-class world champion. Calzaghe was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 2014. His professional boxing career spanned more than 15 years — from 1993 to 2008.
Calzaghe made his professional boxing debut against Paul Hanlon at the age of 21 on October 1, 1993, defeating Hanlon via 1st round TKO. He would go on to remain undefeated throughout his career.
He had his first world title fight at the age of 25 on October 11, 1997 after 22 professional fights, against Chris Eubank for the super-middleweight WBO (vacant) title. He defeated Eubank via 12 round unanimous decision to become the super-middleweight champion of the world.
