      Jack Dempsey (Manassa Mauler) was an American professional boxer. He was born in Manassa, Colorado, USA on June 24, 1895. He was a heavyweight world champion. He died on May 31, 1983 at the age of 87 years. Dempsey was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 1992. His professional boxing career spanned more than 12 years — from 1914 to 1927.

      Dempsey made his professional boxing debut against Young Hancock at the age of 19 on November 2, 1914, defeating Hancock via 1st round KO. He went on to win 2 more consecutive fights after the debut, which included 2 wins via stoppage.

      He got elevated as the heavyweight world NYSAC champion at the age of 25 after 65 professional fights, and had his first title defense fight against Billy Miske on September 6, 1920, and won via 3rd round KO.
