On December 17, 1991 Yuh Myung-woo met Hiroki Ioka in a light-flyweight (WBA) world-title defense fight. Myung-woo was 27 years old and with a record of 36-1 (14), and Ioka was 22 years old and with a record of 18-2-1 (9). Myung-woo lost the fight via 12-round split decision and lost the title.
