Pep won the fight via 15-round unanimous decision and successfully defended his title.
On November 20, 1942 Willie Pep fought Chalky Wright in a featherweight world-title fight for Wright's The Ring title. Pep was 20 years old and with a record of 54-0 (20), and Wright was 30 years old and with a record of 143-33-17 (68). Pep won the fight via 15-round unanimous decision and is crowned the new featherweight world champion.
