On August 12, 1995 Oba Carr faced off against Derrell Coley in a welterweight bout at age 23. He was coming in with a record of 36-1 (23), and Coley was 39 years old and with a record of 27-0-2 (19). Carr won the fight via 12-round split decision.
On March 4, 2000 Oba Carr faced off against Luis Ramon Campas at age 27. He was coming in with a record of 50-3-1 (30), and Campas was 28 years old and with a record of 46-3 (38). Carr stopped Luis Ramon Campas via retirement.
