On April 14, 2007 Nikolai Valuev met Ruslan Chagaev in a heavyweight (WBA) world-title defense fight. Valuev was 33 years old and with a record of 46-1 (34), and Chagaev was 28 years old and with a record of 22-0-1 (17). Valuev lost the fight via 12-round majority decision and lost the title.
