On August 4, 2017 Nikki Adler, the WBC champion, met Claressa Shields, the IBF champion, in a super-middleweight world-title unification fight. Adler was 30 years old and with a record of 16-1 (9), and Shields was 22 years old and with a record of 3-0 (1). Adler lost the fight via 5th-round TKO and lost her title.
