On March 8, 2008 Nate Campbell fought Juan Díaz in a lightweight world-title fight for Díaz' WBA (Super), IBF and WBO titles. Campbell was 36 years old and with a record of 32-5-1 (25), and Díaz was 24 years old and with a record of 33-0 (17). Campbell won the fight via 12-round split decision and is crowned the new lightweight world champion.
