Medina was 32 years old and with a record of 63-13 (30), and Harrison was 25 years old and with a record of 19-1-1 (9). Medina won the fight via 12-round split decision and is crowned the new featherweight world champion.
On July 8, 1990 Manuel Medina faced off against Steve Cruz at age 19. He was coming in with a record of 36-3 (19), and Cruz was 26 years old and with a record of 34-4 (19). Medina won the fight via 10-round unanimous decision.
