On July 5, 2008 Kendall Holt fought Ricardo Torres in a super-lightweight world-title fight for Torres' WBO title. Holt was 27 years old and with a record of 24-2 (13), and Torres was 28 years old and with a record of 32-1 (28). Holt stopped Ricardo Torres via 1st-round KO and is crowned the new super-lightweight world champion.
On February 7, 2008 Kendall Holt faced off against Ben Tackie at age 26. He was coming in with a record of 23-2 (12), and Tackie was 34 years old and with a record of 30-8 (17). Holt won the fight via 10-round majority decision.
