On April 2, 2005 Jean-Marc Mormeck, the WBA (Unified) champion, met Wayne Braithwaite, the WBC and The Ring champion, in a cruiserweight world-title unification fight. Mormeck was 32 years old and with a record of 31-2 (21), and Braithwaite was 29 years old and with a record of 21-0 (17). Mormeck won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and and is crowned the unified WBA (Unified), WBC and The Ring champion.
On May 22, 2004 Jean-Marc Mormeck met Virgil Hill in a cruiserweight (WBA) world-title defense fight. Mormeck was 31 years old and with a record of 30-2 (21), and Hill was 40 years old and with a record of 49-4 (23). Mormeck won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and successfully defended his title.
On March 17, 2007 Jean-Marc Mormeck fought O'Neil Bell in a cruiserweight world-title fight for Bell's WBA (Unified), WBC and The Ring titles. Mormeck was 34 years old and with a record of 33-3 (22), and Bell was 32 years old and with a record of 26-1-1 (24). Mormeck won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and is crowned the new cruiserweight world champion.
