On February 27, 2016 Hugo Ruiz fought Julio Ceja in a super-bantamweight world-title fight for Ceja's WBC title. Ruiz was 29 years old and with a record of 36-3 (32), and Ceja was 23 years old and with a record of 30-1 (27). Ruiz stopped Julio Ceja via 1st-round TKO and is crowned the new super-bantamweight world champion.
