On January 29, 1994 Frankie Randall fought Julio César Chávez in a super-lightweight world-title fight for Chávez' WBC title. Randall was 32 years old and with a record of 49-2-1 (39), and Chávez was 31 years old and with a record of 89-0-1 (75). Randall won the fight via 12-round split decision and is crowned the new super-lightweight world champion.
On January 30, 1993 Frankie Randall faced off against Edwin Rosario at age 31. He was coming in with a record of 46-2-1 (37), and Rosario was 29 years old and with a record of 42-5 (37). Randall stopped Edwin Rosario via TKO.
