On May 28, 2021 Esteban Bermudez fought Carlos Cañizales in a light-flyweight world-title fight for Cañizales' WBA (Regular) title. Bermudez was 25 years old and with a record of 14-3-2 (10), and Cañizales was 28 years old and with a record of 22-0-1 (17). Bermudez stopped Carlos Cañizales via 6th-round TKO and is crowned the new light-flyweight world champion.
