On February 29, 1988 Daniel Zaragoza fought Carlos Zárate Serna in a super-bantamweight world-title fight for the WBC title. Zaragoza was 30 years old and with a record of 36-4 (20), and Serna was 36 years old and with a record of 66-3 (63). Zaragoza stopped Carlos Zárate Serna via 10th-round TKO and is crowned the new super-bantamweight world champion.
