On July 1, 2022 Daniel Valladares fought Rene Mark Cuarto in a strawweight world-title fight for Cuarto's IBF title. Valladares was 28 years old and with a record of 26-3-1 (15), and Cuarto was 25 years old and with a record of 20-2-2 (11). Valladares won the fight via 12-round split decision and is crowned the new strawweight world champion.
