On February 9, 2008 Carlos Quintana fought Paul Williams in a welterweight world-title fight for Williams' WBO title. Quintana was 31 years old and with a record of 25-1 (19), and Williams was 26 years old and with a record of 33-0 (24). Quintana won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and is crowned the new welterweight world champion.
On June 24, 2006 Carlos Quintana faced off against Joel Julio in a welterweight bout at age 29. He was coming in with a record of 23-0 (18), and Julio was 21 years old and with a record of 27-0 (26). Quintana won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision.
