Palomino was 26 years old and with a record of 20-1-3 (10), and Stracey was 25 years old and with a record of 44-3-1 (36). Palomino stopped John H. Stracey via 12th-round TKO and is crowned the new welterweight world champion.
On June 14, 1977 Carlos Palomino met Dave Boy Green in a welterweight (WBC and The Ring) world-title defense fight. Palomino was 27 years old and with a record of 22-1-3 (12), and Green was 24 years old and with a record of 24-0 (19). Palomino stopped Dave Boy Green via 11th-round KO and successfully defended his titles.
