On April 8, 2000 Bruno Girard fought Byron Mitchell in a super-middleweight world-title fight for Mitchell's WBA title. Girard was 29 years old and with a record of 37-3-1 (5), and Mitchell was 26 years old and with a record of 20-0-1 (16). Girard won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and is crowned the new super-middleweight world champion.
On July 13, 2002 Bruno Girard met Lou Del Valle in a light-heavyweight (WBA (Regular)) world-title defense fight. Girard was 31 years old and with a record of 42-3-2 (7), and Del Valle was 34 years old and with a record of 31-2-1 (21). Girard won the fight via 12-round split decision and successfully defended his title.
