On February 13, 2021 Brian Castaño fought Patrick Teixeira in a super-welterweight world-title fight for Teixeira's WBO title. Castaño was 31 years old and with a record of 17-0-1 (12), and Teixeira was 30 years old and with a record of 31-1 (22). Castaño won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and is crowned the new super-welterweight world champion.
On July 1, 2017 Brian Castaño met Michel Soro in a super-welterweight (WBA) world-title defense fight. Castaño was 27 years old and with a record of 14-0 (10), and Soro was 29 years old and with a record of 30-1-1 (20). Castaño won the fight via 12-round split decision and successfully defended his title.
