On February 5, 2011 Austin Trout fought Rigoberto Álvarez in a super-welterweight world-title fight for the WBA (Regular) title. Trout was 25 years old and with a record of 22-0 (13), and Álvarez was 33 years old and with a record of 27-2 (20). Trout won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and is crowned the new super-welterweight world champion.
On December 1, 2012 Austin Trout met Miguel Cotto in a super-welterweight (WBA (Regular)) world-title defense fight. Trout was 27 years old and with a record of 26-0 (14), and Cotto was 32 years old and with a record of 37-3 (30). Trout won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and successfully defended his title.
On June 2, 2012 Austin Trout met Delvin Rodríguez in a super-welterweight (WBA (Regular)) world-title defense fight. Trout was 26 years old and with a record of 25-0 (14), and Rodríguez was 32 years old and with a record of 26-5-3 (14). Trout won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and successfully defended his title.
