Trout won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and is crowned the new super-welterweight world champion.
On December 1, 2012 Austin Trout met Miguel Cotto in a super-welterweight (WBA (Regular)) world-title defense fight. Trout was 27 years old and with a record of 26-0 (14), and Cotto was 32 years old and with a record of 37-3 (30). Trout won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and successfully defended his title.
