Khan was 22 years old and with a record of 21-1 (15), and Kotelnik was 31 years old and with a record of 31-2-1 (13). Khan won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and is crowned the new super-lightweight world champion.
On May 3, 2014 Amir Khan faced off against Luis Collazo in a welterweight bout at age 27. He was coming in with a record of 29-3 (19), and Collazo was 33 years old and with a record of 35-5 (18). Khan won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision.

Khan stopped Paulie Malignaggi via 11th-round TKO and successfully defended his title.
