      Carlos De León (Sugar) was a Puerto Rican professional boxer. He was born in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico on May 3, 1959. He was a cruiserweight world champion. León died on January 1, 2020 at the age of 60 years. His professional boxing career spanned more than 21 years — from 1974 to 1995.

      León made his professional boxing debut against Roy Harris at the age of 15 on August 3, 1974, defeating Harris via 4th round TKO. He went on to win 7 more consecutive fights after the debut, which included 6 wins via stoppage.

      He had his first world title fight at the age of 21 on November 25, 1980 after 31 professional fights, against Marvin Camel for the cruiserweight WBC title. He defeated Camel via 15 round majority decision to become the cruiserweight champion of the world.
