Vernon Forrest (The Viper) was an American professional boxer. He was born in Augusta, Georgia, U.S. on February 12, 1971. He was a two-weight-class world champion. Forrest died on July 25, 2009 at the age of 38 years. His professional boxing career spanned more than 15 years — from 1992 to 2008.
Forrest made his professional boxing debut against Charles Hawkins at the age of 21 on November 25, 1992, defeating Hawkins via 1st round TKO. He went on to win 30 more consecutive fights after the debut, which included 24 wins via stoppage.
He had his first world title fight at the age of 30 on May 12, 2001 after 32 professional fights, against Raul Frank for the welterweight IBF (vacant) title. He defeated Frank via 12 round unanimous decision to become the welterweight champion of the world.
