      Ricardo López (El Finito) is a 57-year old retired Mexican professional boxer. He was born in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico on July 25, 1966. He is a former two-weight-class world champion. López was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 2007. His professional boxing career spanned more than 16 years — from 1985 to 2001.

      López made his professional boxing debut against Rogelio Hernandez at the age of 18 on January 18, 1985, defeating Hernandez via 3rd round KO. He went on to win 46 more consecutive fights after the debut, which included 35 wins via stoppage.

      He had his first world title fight at the age of 24 on October 25, 1990 after 26 professional fights, against Hideyuki Ohashi for the strawweight WBC title. He defeated Ohashi via 5th round TKO to become the strawweight champion of the world.

      • November 13, 1998: López becomes a unified strawweight world champion by beating Rosendo Álvarez via 12 round split decision. He now holds the WBC and WBA strawweight world-champion belts.

      • December 2, 2000: López successfully defends the IBF light-flyweight title against Ratanapol Sor Vorapin, winning the fight via 3rd round TKO.

      • September 29, 2001: López successfully defends the IBF light-flyweight title against Zolani Petelo, winning the fight via 8th round KO.
