      Ike Quartey (Bazooka) is a 54-year old retired Ghanaian professional boxer. He was born in Accra, Ghana on November 27, 1969. He is a former welterweight world champion. His professional boxing career spanned more than 18 years — from 1988 to 2006.

      Quartey made his professional boxing debut against Mama Mohamed at the age of 18 on November 26, 1988, defeating Mohamed via 2nd round KO. He went on to win 33 more consecutive fights after the debut, which included 28 wins via stoppage.

      He had his first world title fight at the age of 24 on June 4, 1994 after 25 professional fights, against Crisanto España for the welterweight WBA title. He defeated España via 11th round TKO to become the welterweight champion of the world.
