      Roberto Carlos Leyva (Mako) is a 44-year old retired Mexican professional boxer. He was born in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico on October 27, 1979. He is a former strawweight world champion. His professional boxing career spanned more than 13 years — from 1998 to 2011.

      Leyva made his professional boxing debut against Jose Luis Araiza at the age of 18 on February 21, 1998, defeating Araiza via 3rd round TKO. He went on to win 18 more consecutive fights after the debut, which included 16 wins via stoppage.
