Jimmy McLarnin (Baby Face) was an Irish professional boxer. He was born in Hillsborough, Ireland, U.K. on December 19, 1907. He was a welterweight world champion. He died on October 28, 2004 at the age of 96 years. McLarnin was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 1991. His professional boxing career spanned more than 12 years — from 1923 to 1936.
McLarnin made his professional boxing debut against Young Fry at the age of 16 on December 19, 1923, defeating Fry via 1st round KO. He went on to win 17 more consecutive fights after the debut, which included 3 wins via stoppage.
He had his first world title fight at the age of 20 on May 21, 1928 after 43 professional fights, against Sammy Mandell for the NBA, NYSAC, and The Ring titles. He lost to Mandell via 15 round unanimous decision.
